One of the largest cities in Poland, creating, together with the Bydgoszcz county, an agglomeration called Bydgoszcz Industrial Cluster. Thanks to its geographical location Bydgoszcz is central in the kujawsko-pomorskie voivodship. The city is picturesquely located on two rivers, Vistula and Brda and Bydgoszcz Canal, playing the key role enabling Vistula – Oder communication dated the XIII century. Bydgoszcz life goes on by water. The Bydgoszcz water tram is enough to enumerate as the most popular attraction of Bydgoszcz, others are Bydgoszcz Granary or the Summer Brda Concerts series. The foundation of the city reaches the XI century when the first settlement was founded. The town privileges was granted in 1346. The first town hall was founded then, some archeological footprints of the buildings are visible today in the Old Market. The importance of the city increased due to the Amber Route that Bydgoszcz was on and the presence of the river thanks to which Bydgoszcz became Polish national centre of the river rafting that created its trade character. In XIX century the city was connected to the German railway that conceded its industrial development. Numerous heavy machinery industry and timber factories were founded then. Contemporary Bydgoszcz is an important IT centre and foreign companies offices. Bydgoszcz is opened to the foreign visitors thanks to the Ignacy Paderewski airport that was founded in the vicinity of the city. Bydgoszcz is also well connected by railway to all important cities in Poland.

The railway tradition of Bydgoszcz reaches the XIX century and the Prussian occupation period. The most important railway station in Bydgoszcz is the Main Bydgoszcz train station, where you could travel to Torun, Poznan, Katowice, Chrzow or Tczew. The train station has been modernised in 2015 thanks to which it has been awarded the Premium category.
